How Much Should a Website Cost in Malaysia?

A WordPress site with technical SEO costs RM3,500 (up to 12 pages), RM7,000 (up to 50), or from RM15,000 above that. See what the wider market charges.

How much should a website cost in Malaysia — RM3,500 to RM15,000 pricing tiers

In my pricing, a custom Malaysian small-business WordPress site with technical SEO and Google Business Profile setup starts at RM3,500 for up to 10–12 pages, rising to RM7,000 for up to 50 pages, with larger sites quoted separately. Other Malaysian web agencies show a much wider range — from roughly RM800 for a single landing page to RM30,000+ for a custom platform (zenweb.my, 2026-06-15). Price mainly depends on page count and what’s bundled in.

What the Malaysian market shows

Here’s a real, dated reference point from one Malaysian web agency’s own published pricing (zenweb.my, 2026-06-15):

Site type Price range
Landing page (1 page) RM800–2,500
Basic company site (3–5 pages) RM1,500–5,000
SME corporate site (6–10 pages) RM6,000–14,000
E-commerce store RM8,000–25,000
Custom platform/portal RM30,000–50,000+

These are one agency’s numbers, not a market average — but a useful, checkable reference point.

What I charge, and why

My own Website + Technical SEO Launch Bundle (Package B) is priced by size, not a single flat fee — every tier includes technical SEO and Google Business Profile setup (see my packages):

Site size Price
Up to 10–12 pages RM3,500
Up to 50 pages RM7,000
Over 50 pages, with full keyword research Custom quote, from RM15,000

International clients: from $800 for the base tier; larger builds quoted per project.

Compared to the table above: my base and mid tiers sit within, often below, zenweb.my’s RM6,000–14,000 for a comparable SME site — and mine includes technical SEO and GBP setup, which zenweb lists basic on-page SEO for but not those two specifically. Not a claim I’m cheaper across the board (their landing-page tier starts lower), just an honest, scope-based comparison at the level most small businesses need.

What actually drives the price

  • Page count. More pages, more design and content work, higher cost — visible directly in the table above (landing page vs. SME site vs. custom platform).
  • Custom design vs. template. A template-based site costs less; a fully custom design costs more because it’s built around your brand specifically.
  • What’s bundled in. Copywriting, SEO setup, and GBP setup add real work on top of just “building pages” — a price that excludes these isn’t necessarily cheaper, it’s just narrower in scope.
  • Ongoing costs. Beyond the build, budget separately for domain, hosting, SSL, and maintenance if you’re not updating the site yourself. One Malaysian agency’s published estimate (zenweb.my, 2026-06-15) puts combined annual running costs at roughly RM1,000–3,000/year — treat this as one data point, not a universal figure, since hosting and maintenance costs vary by provider.

Red flags: too cheap and too expensive

Too cheap usually means one of: no real design work (a raw template with your logo dropped in), no SEO foundation (no sitemap, no meta descriptions, no schema), or a price that doesn’t include basic support after launch — so the first bug becomes a new invoice.

Too expensive doesn’t always mean better. A high price with no clear breakdown of what’s included, or a scope that’s clearly larger than what a small business actually needs, is worth questioning just as much as a suspiciously low one. Ask for a line-item breakdown either way.

Is RM500 enough for a website?

It can be, for a very small, simple site — a single-page or few-page presence with a template design, at the low end of what agencies like zenweb.my quote for a landing page (RM800–2,500). It’s usually not enough for a fuller custom WordPress build with SEO and GBP setup included; that starts around RM3,500 in my own pricing.

How much should a good website cost?

A “good” website isn’t just the cheapest option — it includes the technical foundation (sitemap, schema, mobile responsiveness, fast hosting) that a raw template usually skips. In my pricing, that starts at RM3,500 for up to 10–12 pages with technical SEO and Google Business Profile setup included, rising with site size. Going cheaper than that is possible, but check what’s actually included before assuming you’re getting the same thing for less.

Why do some websites cost RM20,000 or more?

Usually custom functionality (bookings, e-commerce, integrations), a fully bespoke design, or ongoing management bundled into the price — the market table above shows e-commerce and custom-platform builds regularly running RM8,000–50,000+. Not automatically a bad deal, but you should be able to see exactly what that scope includes.

Does a cheap website hurt my SEO?

Not the price itself — but cheap builds often skip the technical basics (sitemap, schema, fast hosting, mobile responsiveness) that SEO depends on. Missing basics hurt rankings; the price tag is just a symptom.

What’s included in ongoing website costs?

Typically hosting, a domain, and maintenance if you want someone else handling updates and security. As a reference point, one Malaysian agency (zenweb.my, 2026-06-15) quotes roughly RM1,000–3,000/year combined for these — budget for something in that range on top of the build price, and confirm exactly what’s covered with whoever builds your site.
